email notification stopped (whistle)

I have my notifications default set to whistle; however, all of a sudden I only get the whistle for facebook updates.

Be sure to check notification volume level in System Settings-->Sounds

Check the settings of your mail app to ensure both notification and notification sound are selected.

For example, if you set your default system notification to silent and did not choose a different sound via your mail app
