Help Email question?

I have my email set to update every 5 minutes but I'm only receiving emails once a day. When I check my email through my pc I have a bunch of emails that are not being sent to my phone. Does anyone know how to fix this?
 
download the "K-9 Mail" app until the android 2.2 update is released. Don't use the stock email application.

I'm hoping 2.2 fixes some of the email issues.
