email reads connection error and does not refresh

[Android Question]

I have a samsung galaxy 4g phone with At &T. my personal gmail account suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago. i have wi fi and everything else is working but when i try to refresh the email, it says connection error (gmail).
i rebooted and updated all the software but i cannot get it to work.

Try removing the account and adding it back.

Also try accessing the account from a computer. It may have been hacked.
