Email Retrieve Interval greyed out

I have a Lucid with my POP email account set up. I have to manually refresh to check email because the "Retrieve Interval" option in Account Settings is is greyed out. I would like to have my email checked every x minutes.

I've looked in the menus for a way to enable this but cant find anything. In Account & Synch there is not "auto synch" option as I have read in other posts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If all else fails just try using a different email app. I use MailDroid and it is better than the stock email app.

Check your data connection settings. It must be enabled so emails can be retrieved or the interval setting is grayed out.
