Help Email troubles

Hey guys,

First time poster here. I've searched the S3 forums and can't find a solution to this very frustrating problem.

In summary, my email (hotmail) account is not working:

• Emails do not get updated despite the fact that sync is set to every 5 minutes.
• I constantly receive the same two emails from months ago which have long been deleted from my online account, but keep getting thrown into my inbox as "unread"
• If I delete all the messages in my inbox (if there are any!) the new message counter on the email icon sits at '-1', so I have to have an unread email at all times in order for this to go away

As I hope you can imagine, this is very frustrating. I can have 10 new, unread emails sitting in my inbox on my computer but my phone won't receive a single one. I have checked the sync setting several times, but I might be missing something very obvious

On the other hand, my gmail account is working perfectly (except for the widget which occasionally reads empty- apparently a separate issue relating to a recent widget update).

I've only had the S3 for a week so I'm new to this technology

Hotmail is flaky. Are you using the stock email app? if so I'd recommend not using it and downloading the official hotmail app from the play store.

Try and sign out and remove your account from your phone, then signing again. Make sure you have your 'Push' settings on, in order to receive your emails instantly.

There might be a setting in 'Hotmail' itself that is causing trouble with your syncing. Sometimes, depending on what your setting is. When you alter something on a 3rd Party App (For example, deleting an email), Hotmail may auto push the email back to your device. There is a setting for that, just have a look around.

Installing the official hotmail app has solved the problem. Thanks guys!
