Email won't stop updating / sync

I seem to have the opposite problem to everyone else. I easily got my s3 connected to my work activesync server, and my email and calendar update fine.

But... the email program keeps downloading new email even when I've turned the main Accounts and sync button off - which should stop all accounts (Twitter/mail/Facebook) from updating.

If email update settings are set to push or timed updates, then it keeps updating regardless of the master setting. If I go in to email and turn updates off there, then it does stop.

On my previous Android (HTC Desire) the 'master switch' worked fine. With the power bar I could control all account updating from the home screen with a single press.

Anyone know how I can make the email program on the S3 take note of the master Account and sync setting?

Does anyone know how I contact Samsung to ask them this problem then? I tried their support website but it just takes you around in loops...

What email program are you using?

The default email program that comes with the S3. It just says Email. I haven't installed anything else. I've just got jellybean pushed over the air, so installing now to see whether it makes a difference.
