Emails sending twice (not gmail)

I have an Outlook (hotmail) account synced to my phone (Galaxy S3) and whenever I send an email through that account, it ends up being sent twice for some reason. When I look in my "sent" folder, I can see the email was duplicated and sent twice, every single time. It only happens when I send emails on my phone. If I send it through another device (desktop, laptop, etc.), it works just fine.

I'm not using an app for the outlook account. I just selected "Add Account" and "Email" from the Settings menu.

I'm on Android version 4.3

Any insight would be much appreciated! :)

Do you have any other email apps installed on your phone? While each app may store credentials separately, I think they share a common email database and your message could be getting handled by two separate smtp clients.

I have a couple of Microsoft exchange email accounts (not apps) synced up and those work fine.
The only email app I do have installed is Gmail, and that one works fine as well.

Forgive me as I'm not very tech savvy, but is there a way to correct the non-microsoft exchange account so that it doesn't send emails twice? That's the only one that behaves that way.

Okay, here's what I found out. It is because you have your hotmail account set up as an exchange account (IMAP) and you have requested that a copy of the sent mail be saved on the server. So, when you send an email to somebody, you also send a duplicate to your email server for storage. Your recipients are only getting the email once, right?

This might explain it better: Two Copies of Sent Messages in Outlook - Slipstick Systems.

That said, I have no idea how to turn it off in email settings. I've looked on my Note 10.1 (Samsung email app) and my Nexus4 (Google stock email app) and couldn't find the setting to not send a copy to the server. Hopefully somebody else can help you if it's possible to change.
