I desperately want to UNCONDITIONALLY LOVE my Galaxy Note, but the simple truth is that I don't. Sure, I love many of its features, but I wanted to be able to sell my iPhone 4 and have just one phone in my pocket. I live in China and when I saw the thing I just about flipped out. I had seen the Dell Streak once before, but thought it was stupid and couldn't see putting that thing up to my brain. But the Note was so beautiful I had to have it. So, this is what I did on December 20, 2011. I had my iPhone in my pocket along with my SGSII. Here in China, used phones are a cash cow business, so right on the spot, I decided to trade in my iPhone 4. But then I remembered that I still had the 3GS back at my apt. So, I got in a taxi, flew back to my place and grabbed my 3GS and all of the accessories and went back to the elec. plaza. I traded my SGSII and the 3GS and got the GNote. I also kept my iPhone 4. Glad I did and I'll tell you why.
#1. Email. It's the number one reason I use a smartphone. And until I find a phone that handles email with EMBEDDED PHOTOS better than the iPhone, I'm stuck carrying around two devices. Believe me, the iPhone is like the little foster brother to the Note. I've even had the new Jailbreak iOS 5 installed on my i4 and I'm not doing summersaults. The i4 is a rock solid phone but it has nowhere the bells and whistles that the Note does. However, once again...it's email that is the most important to me. Yes, of course, the Note handles email, but in my line of work, people send me photos every single day. With the iPhone, the photos pop up inside of the email and are inline to be seen beautifully. With the Note, I have to click and download the attached photos and then go into the photo viewer to see the pics. Well, I don't like that. With Apple, I can see what person wants this item or that item. With the Note, the pics are just lumped all into a folder that I have to then decide who wants what.
Someone is going to tell me to switch to GMail and I'll be able to view the photos within each individual email. Well, I don't want to do that. I don't use Gmail and have had my Yahoo acct for close to twenty years. I downloaded and use K-9 mail and while I can see a small thumbnail of the photo(s), I haven't come across another email client that gives full sized email photo attachment like the iPhone does.
