emergency button keeps calling 911

No.. I'm sure that's not well received. I'm unfamiliar with your Sharp phone and I see we do not have a discussion area that's exclusively for your phone. I might suggest checking in here Other Phones (Android & Non-Android) - Android Forums
There is surely a way to either disable or to at least make it impossible to accidentally call 911. Wish I had more to offer. Good luck and thanks for using these forums.

I'm world famous for making pocket calls lol. I try to be very selective when I upgrade my phone since.. just to eliminate the problem. I wasn't calling 911 though... OUCH lol. That just needs to be fixed.

Oh dear... that's not great! I know that, on older phones with a keypad, you used to be able to call emergency services without unlocking it... it's so that you can get through to them very quickly (without having to unlock your phone).
I guess your phone has a touch screen? Could you try and download some app that turns off the screen when the proximity sensor is covered (basically when the phone is in your pocket)?

Welcome aboard. There are ways of avoiding situations like this from happening. I know of one carrier that does it (Metro Pcs). Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with your device - however, contact your service provider and discuss the problem with them. Best of luck.

Has anybody found a solution to this yet? Can someone give a link to a good app that will stop pocket calls to 911?
my boyfriend has pocket called 911 over dozens of times. When he called the phone manufacturers ( Sharp ) they said " i'm looking at a phone just like yours, don't see it- sorry, can't help. " really ??!! His sims is working fine, and he's had the problem before and after he's put password protection on it. It's really frustrating, we'd like to find a way to stop it. Any other suggestions...
