Enable notification sounds for one specific app

Hi All,

I have the following profiles set

WORK
Context: Location
Tasks: Set WiFi Off, Set Silent Mode to Vibrate

NIGHT MODE
Context: Time
Tasks: Turn Down Ringer, System, Notification, and Media Volumes as well as Brightness etc

What I would like to do is;

1. Receive notification from APP A
2. Check if WORK or NIGHT MODE is active
3. IF Active, enable notification sounds, WAIT 1 minute then return to WORK or NIGHT MODE

Of course, if neither of those are active my volumes are already up and I'd hear notifications from APP A and it would not need to continue with the tasks.

How do I do this?

EDIT***

So, I have managed to figure it out but it still doesn't do exactly what I am after

Context: Event > UI > Notification and selected the App I required
Task: Tasker > Profile Status > Work > Off
Task: Tasker > Profile Status > Night Mode > Off
Task: Audio > Notification Sound > Set to 12
Task: Wait > 1 Minute
Task: Tasker > Profile Status > Work > On
Task: Tasker > Profile Status > Night Mode > On

However, it would not play the sound required

I then added in the following task after the notification sound

Task: Media > Play Ringtone > Notification

However, I'd like to play the in-built tone that is specific for that app

How can I get it to do this?

You don't have to disable then reenable other profiles to do what you want to do. Just change the volume (ringer, notifications or media, you decide), play the sound and change it back to what it was (which means before that, save the volume in a variable so you can change it back once the sound is played).

As for playing the ringtone from the app, I'd say you can't do it, because by the time Tasker catches the event, the app might have already played the notification sound. What app is it? Maybe there's an mp3 to download somewhere?

Anyone else, feel free to counter my guess...

The app is called 'BART' - it is a replacement for a pager for receiving alerts to respond for fires, so it has its own built in sounds for Emergencies and for Notifications/Messages.

I just had a go with SMS and can confirm that Tasker catches the notification too late, unsurprisingly.

Is it acceptable for the notification sounds to be different? In which case I'm sure you'll find some loud enough alarm here: FindSounds - Search the Web for Sounds (for example).

If this is not an option then there is no choice. You'll have to keep your notification volume up at night.
A mitigating option would be to disable Auto-sync at night, at least you would avoid sound notifications for emails and maybe some other things (SMS would still wake you up, though).

Yeah I tried doing it with an SMS and sending myself an SMS whilst on silent and it was very delayed.

Might have to do what you suggested and find alternate sounds. However my app has ones to distinguish between Emergency something is burning down. To a simple message like "Training tonight at 7:00PM"

Not sure I could differentiate between the two types using Tasker.

Will keep investigating. Not currently using my Night mode profile at the moment.

See if you can make a distinction depending on the text accompanying the notification.
