Encryption

Encryption set on my tablet would make it secure unless you enter the password. Without encryption set I still use password access.

Why is encryption more secure given that access in both cases described requires a password?

With encryption, all of the data is encrypted. So even if the data was stolen, it's useless. With just a password, data can still be stolen.

Thanks for comments.
To steal data, in either case, don't you first have to crack the password?
No, without encryption you can plug into a pc and copy everything on it. With encryption, the data would all be useless and unreadable.
With just a password and no encryption, your screen is just locked.
