Engadget RAZR Teardown

Engadget has apparently had someone take the RAZR apart:

Behind the glass: a detailed tour inside the Motorola Droid RAZR -- Engadget

There's a few things in there that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere before, like the gyroscope, barometer, thermometer and magnetometer (and even an apparently non-usable NFC chip). Does anyone know if those components are intact and usable (e.g. by apps) to the same extent as in other phones (like the gyroscope in most high-end devices or the barometer in the GNex) ?

The thermometer, gyro, magnetometer are common and nothing new. However it's interesting there's a barometer and NFC chip in there too. These devices aren't listed on the spec sheet either.

My *theory* is that Moto wanted to get this phone out into the market for the holidays and will enable this hardware with the ICS release. They probably didn't get the drivers finished and just pushed them back to focus on the new OS.

Just my thought no evidence for this but why would they spend money for hardware just to turn it off?

Hope you are right!

interesting. one of the things making me lean towards the Nexus is the NFC.
wish ICS would be available for the RAZR soon.
I may have to continue with the Dinc for a while to see what happens.

after seeing the camera shots I can say they look better (more focused) than most pics I take

just wondering about the screen resolution (although it's gonna be better than the Dinc) and the difference between Motoblur and ICS. Will the RAZR UI change when ICS becomes available?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I was reminded of this fact today:

Motorola Droid Razr

Now that there have been a few ICS leaks, is there any indication that the NFC chip that engadget found can used? This would be a fabulous bonus to getting ICS (which we all know will be this month (i.e 2Q-2012).
