Apps Engineering Mode Question

Craigmill

Newbie
Hi, I recently bought a Chinese S4 (i9502+) to try out.
Digging around I found that *#*#3646633#*#* gave me the Engineering Mode. Lots of sections to play about with!!
Under the Log and Debugging section there is a button called User2Root. When this is selected I get 2 buttons, Root & User.
I have not pressed either of these button (coward)!
Does anybody know what they will do????

If they do what they say they will do, Root will add root to the kernel, User will remove it.

If they don't, they can do anything from nothing to deleting Android and your kernel.

Is that a number you dial to get access to that engineering mode? I've never heard of such a mode. I assume it gives you access to a lot of debug options?

haha I'm not actually gonna try that! For all I know that might cause my phone to self destruct.

On another note, I would assume each phone model has a specific number to enter this mode? Or would it be per manufacturer? Do Iphones do this too?

FYI - I have just found out that this Engineering Mode is the same as the one found in the Mobileuncle App under Engineering Mode (MTK)
