I went into the settings of the text messages on my S6 Edge and I saw something called "Enhanced Messaging". What exactly is that and what does it do?

Im not sure im just trying to figure out how to disable messages from turning the screen on in my pocket when people msg me at work and what not.

very similar to imessage
works only on s6 to s6 at this point
can sms in airplane mode
shows delivery/read report
can send videos
and group messaging
