Epic 4g Turns off and on

My Epic 4g randomly turns off and back on while in use and especially when the keyguard is engaged.

What may be the problem and how can i go about fixing it?

please don't tell me to go find a corner to cry in

Like a random reboot? What is the device history? Root, rom, etc

Ive had this happen when it gets overheated.

Is it when you whip the keyboard out quickly or even when you let it out slow?? I notice sometimes if my battery cover isn't on super tight and I quickly open the keyboard, it'll shut off since the battery probably is jarred slightly off contact.
