Help Erase Internal User Storage

Erase Internal User Storage is an option in the Storage Settings of my Ascend 2, running 2.3.6. It showed about 12 of 18 megs still available. Out of curiosity, not able to think of anything vital that would be there, I erased it and restarted.

I hoped to see a miraculous increase in storage for apps and such, or else a tragic disappearance of vital data. But so far, I can
 
Not rooted, but it’s right there on a stock Gingerbread 2.3.6. It won’t show me what’s there but it will let me delete it.
 
As I said, “Erase Internal User Storage is an option in the Storage Settings of my Ascend 2.” That’s the only mention of it that I’ve seen in my OS. I have no idea what was in there, which I erased. But in the day that’s passed, no new data has appeared there; it’s still empty.

So I guess it’s just a curiosity, to lose something I never knew I had.
