I just got a MID tablet that has no AppMarket connections. It came with Aldiko reader which simply will not import a certain file. I happen to like older Sci Fi and got quite a bit from Manybooks. Some were in this format:
authorname2444424444-epub.epub
I opened the book in Beam Reader on the phone, the Nook wifi (the cheap one) and Laputa. They all imported the book, and saved the page where I was reading.
I could open, but not import in Aldiko. With all the books listed as above, it was hard to remember which book you were reading, especially if a certain author had a quite a few books.
If only the paid version of Aldiko would import, they should say so - but the trial/free version said it was fully functioning. I have no objection to paying for an app, but I'd prefer to know that the app works first. If I can find Beam Reader as an apk, I'd buy it again.
I asked Aldiko, and they wanted to know if I could rename the file. I think that if other readers can open and import the file, the problem is Aldiko's.
The books at Manybooks are free, so if any of you Aldiko fans can see if there's anything weird with the format, I'd like to know.
