Eris screens autodims when in landscape

My Eris has all of a sudden starting to turn off the screen when placed in landscape mode. It dims and then goes dark but is working perfectly in portrait mode. Any ideas?

I have what may be a stupid question for you, but we have to start somewhere:

When you turn your phone, is your thumb going anywhere near the proximity sensor?

I asked this question last month. Problem solved, I was wearing polarized sunglasses. For some reason, in landscape with polarized sunglasses, the screen appears dim.

LCDs require polarizing filters in order to work. When you turn the phone at the right angle, the light coming off the LCD is filtered out by the polarizers in your sunglasses.

When I wear my sunglasses and turn my head at an angle, my tv goes black :D

The answer is no - it only happens when I turn the phone to landscape mode.

I hear ya, that is exactly what I meant!
The proximity sensor is just to the left of the earpiece when looking at the phone...when you turn it to landscape mode it is in the prime spot for your left thumb to cover it while holding it.

This of course will turn off the screen!
