error messages when transfer phone to pc

I have a vibrant, I know it is old but I use it mainly for the video recording capabilities when I am out and about.

Lately, when I attempt to transfer any video from droid to pc I get these 2 error messages either before any video is transferred or after 1 or 2 videos out of say 10 are transferred:

*device attached to the system is not functioning*

*the handle is invalid*

I know this is a droid issue and not a pc issue becuase I am able to transfer videos via my panasonic camcorder and also dslr camera.

Any tips on how to get this fixed?
