ES File Explorer file sharing problem

Hey guys, I tried to share some of my folders on my Windows 8 computer to access them from my phone.

I shared them with Everyone then I opened Es File Explorer.

First I let the ES scan, It did find my computer, 192.168.0.10

When I click I get Login Error, ( I already shut down the password sharing.)
I tried to disable my firewall didn't work either. By the way I don't have password on my Win8 computer.

Then I tried to add manually. I wrote 192.168.0.10, but I couldn't add it because It was saying Network not found.

(By the way I shared with AllShare on my computer and couldn't see on DLNA either.)

Can someone help me?

I suspect its because Linux/unix, Mac, and Windows all use their own file sharing formats. I've given up on sharing files straight from my PC to my Android/Linux devices, or my fiance's Macbook Pro, so we use a NAS drive now. You may have to find a SMB client for Windows, but I've had no luck with that, either.

Are you sure the IP belongs your PC ... let you ES finish the scan?

Do you use an user name and a password to start your PC?
Some Windows 7 PCs must have it that ES can log in.

I've never had success in sharing Windows 7 with other devices and operating systems. Harry may be on to something

I made it to the Users folder, I added it like this: 192.168.0.10/users
and I connected successfully. When I write 192.168.10 I get network path error. And I can't access my folder on my drive D (windows os is on C)

I've never been able to use that function of ES successfully either

part of the problem is that noone seems to know for certain what user id and/or password you input.

router? pc? pc network? i have this theory that anyone who actually got it to work blindly stumbled on the procedure, because in MANY months of questioning people, noone can replicate it.

Is there any other way with Windows?

Not many posts asking about connecting ES to a network drive.

I use ... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rhmsoft.fm ... Just tested it and I can see my WinXp Pro box with no problems. It scanned my network and I just had to enter my username/password and Bob's your father's brother .... logged in as me.

of what? my laptop has no password, i don't have a user name, and i should just head off to alcohol rehab now as a preemptive measure.

If your laptop hasn't a Windows user name and a password then you'd set up your laptop with them.
Then use them with ES to connect to your laptop's network share.

That was my suggestion to try

If you don't get access now, sorry then it's a Windows thing of the laptop (and has nothing to do with the network and the router if your phone is able to access the web via WiFi).
