Help ES File Explorer help needed

Samething happened to me. It was working fine, but all of sudden i get above msg and can not connect to my network pc.

Is there any fix to this error?

Run cmd as admin.
Type secpol.msc
Click on local policy
and then Security Options
And double click 'Network Security: LAN Manager authenticating level'
And select 'Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated'
Apply and try connecting again from the phone. That worked for me.

LBPHeretic, you are a life saver. I had the same hassle as everyone else trying to make ES Explorer work. Made all the permission changes, etc, and still had the problem. Then I saw your suggestion to use SwiFTP FTP server. I installed it, fired up CuteFTP, already installed on my PC, typed the IP, and the problem was instantly solved. It's one of those "why didn't I think of that?" solutions. Thanks so much.

FIX FIX FIX FIX
Hi guys,

I've been trying to connect my ES file explorer to my windows 7 PC. I can only browse my homegroup folders ( pictures, videos, documents) which all are under my C drive (windows OS). But I wanted to share my photos in my D drive (other partition). I manage to detect my share folder inside the D drive but I can't open. It said that " no account permission". Like I said I can connect to my shared folders via Homegroup. But the folder in other drive won't open. Thus really give me a hard time. Under network settings "Turn off password protected sharing" is active.
So what I did
1) I created a password to my PC.
2) Clear data for my ES file explorer
3) Added my PC username and password in ES file explorer
4) after that I able to open my photo's in D drive. NOT just the photo folder but my whole D drive :D which quite awesome since I download movies and I can stream it on my xperia P without any lag :D

I didnt change anything in network settings about "Turn off password protected sharing" since I didnt create a Homegroup.

I had to open the videos file collection (best i can think to call it) and share the my videos folder. Windows 8 treats videos a bit differently and uses the main file as a kinda catch all for all media you include in it, so when using the file explorer I think it tripped it out a bit because there are actually no files in it and it is not a real folder.

Once i shared the my videos folder (now videos 2) i could see the vids just fine on my nexus 7. Hope that helps someone!

Okay, so after HOURS of tinkering, I finally found a solution that works. I did this in XP, but I know for a fact there are similar settings in Windows 7(not sure if they will accomplish this goal though).

The scenario:

I could access my PC via ES File explorer, but when I clicked on MOST of the folders inside, i got "Account has no permissions" error. The only folder I did have access to was the default "Shared Documents" folder, and that pointed me to my solution.

Here is what I did:

1. Right clicked the Shared Documents folder on my PC.
-- The one that let me in via ES File Explorer.

2. Clicked Properties, then the Security Tab.

3. I Right clicked the folder I wanted to be able to access via ES File Explorer.

4. Clicked Properties, then the Security Tab.
-- I noticed huge discrepancies between the two.

5. In the Security tab of the folder I was wanting to share, I added all the users that were in the already accessible "Shared Documents" Folder
They were:
-Administrator
-Everyone
-Power Users
-SYSTEM
-Users

**To add them, click Add, then begin typing the name of the user/group you would like to add, then click "Check Names" and it will enter the correct, exact name, that is required.**

6. After you have entered all the names, click "OK" on that window, then "Apply" on the next one(the properties window)

7. Wait for the permissions to be applied (I shared my entire 300GB 2nd HD so it took about 4 minutes, and gave me a not responding error, just be paitent)

8. Back in ES File Explorer, simply press "Refresh" or exit the appllication, and start it back up.

9. Hopefully you're browsing your PC files via your phone.

:D Let me know if this worked for you.

***Update***
I can confirm this works with Windows 7 too.

I got same problem using ES File Explorer, saying SMB Service is off, tried almost everything (changed permissions, restart pc, etc) and didn't work. But then I restarted (reboot) my android tablet and voila.. it works again :)

edit: Same problem happened again, but now instead of restarting my android tablet, I went to Task manager killed every active apps, and when to RAM manager, Clear memory, and voila.. it works again :).

It proves vanowm was correct: "It seems when you try connect to a unreachable host, ESFE hangs and even exiting it still leaves it active in memory and doesn't let another instance connect to "good" hosts". Clearing memory on Task Manager solved this.

I'm having this very same problem. I have read through all the posts here and tried every suggestion for settings etc but nothing works . I have Es File Manager on both my Android phone and tablet and am getting the same response from both so I'm guessing its something on my desktop that I need to change. I have a separate drive on my desktop PC where I store all my music and video and would like to share this with my phone and tablet. I can see my desktop computer and I can see the drive I want to use and I can see all the folders on that drive. When I try to open a folder I get the "This account has no permissions." message. Can anyone please suggest what I could be doing wrong? I have checked the share setting for this drive and have it set to share with Everyone and Full Control, I have checked the Security settings and seems correct, I have checked the Network settings and ticked the NO Password setting. One thing I did try was to change the Sharing on one of the individual folders and that did seem to work, but I have a couple of hundred folders on that drive, would take months to change each one! Please can anyone help? yours desperately, Ray

HI
have just found I have exactly the same issue with my Laptop, I cannot access any folders on the Desktop even though all share permissions have been allowed, not sure what the problem is. The other way around is ok, i can access all the laptop folders on my desktop with no problem. If anyone can help i'd really appreciate it, other wise it means going to each individual folder and setting share options :-(. thanks, Ray

I've read this thread and tried all the ways suggested by others and it still isn't working right :(

I've got it seeing my files on my computer, but when I tap on the folder that I've chosen to share, it pops up an errir saying "this account has no permissions"

How do I fix that?

Thanks in advance!
for permission problem you should follow this steps:
control panel-- administrative tools-- computer management-- local users and groups-- users-- double click on administrator-- unchecked "account is disabled"
then logout and log in administrator-- press ctrl+alt+del-- click change password-- set a pass
now you should set es file explorer:
press new-- set server and...
user: administrator
pass: (that you set)
i hope can help u :))

The problem is not with ES File Explorer. It's with Windows 7. I have a PC setup as a "server" for video files and music and once in a while it will stop accepting connections from non-Windows devices which include my Ubuntu laptop, two tablets and two smartphones. All the while, drive mappings from other Windows PCs still work okay.

The only way I've found to get it back working again is a reboot of the Windows 7 PC.

I've tried disabling the firewall, heck I've even disabled the firewall SERVICE since the PC is behind a router which uses dd-wrt firmware and firewall. Besides, I have nothing of value on it, just a collection of my ripped CDs and DVDs (no-blu-ray yet...) but regardless, it still goes "down" once in a while.

Sometimes it will work properly for a day or two, sometimes it's been "up" for over a month, most of the time though I have to restart it about once a week if i want to keep sharing those files.

Considering the trouble it's giving me I should switch it to a Ubuntu server OS.

Don't get me wrong, Windows 7 is a PHENOMENAL operating system and most of the times it "just works", for that it's miles ahead of Windows 8 and XP.

Sadly though, even at work (I'm an IT Specialist) we're constantly confronted by weird Microsoft bugs in mostly all of their software, from Office that in all the versions EVENTUALLY fill up the OLKxxx folder and prevents from opening attachments from Outlook, a bug that's been there since Office '97 and is incredibly still there in Office 2010, to Windows 7 that tried mapping the network drives too fast before it's authenticated on the network, and fails with a "could not reconnect your network drives" error which would be easily remedied if Microsoft's developers SIMPLY added a service called "drive mappings" which could be delayed by like 10 seconds in the services manager.

Gees... I wish Google would get it over with and just buy Microsoft so we could have the perfect OS...

Bump.

Does not work for me with two Mac OS X Mavericks running Samba and two phones, Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 and Samsung S3 with Android 4.3

Scanning finds both my computers but whatever I enter to login, I just get Server not found. Using Fing to scan my network reveals that both my Samba-servers are visible from my phones and it is no problem to connect to them using a regular computer.

Hi...All - I was getting error message "This account have no permissions" from ES Explorer (on a Mini-X) when trying to connect to my W7 PC files. I found the solution as follows:
1) Right click on the W7 Folder in question on PC and share the folder with "Everyone"
2) Check the security tab under properties and add "Everyone" to permissions.

The key for me was step 2) above.
AK

Another solution I found for windows 7 was to add a user account(I named mine phone) then set a password.

Share the folders or drives you want to use on your phone with that user. Then use those credentials to log in with es file explorer.

Found this through searching the same problem. And I agree. The problem is not with ES File Explorer. I have the same problem with BS Media Player on my Android devices. I run the same type of headless "server" set up in the basement for videos and music. I recently switched it over to from XP to Win7. It has worked for years with XP (albeit slowly). Now with Win7 I get grief trying to access shares from my phone or tablet. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Still works fine from other PC's on the network. And you are entirely correct, rebooting the server makes it work again.

Windows home networking has always annoyed me with odd hit and miss aspects to it.

Yes, the problem is with ES File Explorer. I try to connect to two Macs running Samba but ES File Explorer fails.

Here's my steps for sharing my music:

On my PC
1) Right click My Music -> Properties -> Sharing tab -> Share button
2) Selected my username (not the Homegroup account)
3) Also click Advanced Sharing, check "Share this Folder"
3) Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Turn Windows Firewall On or Off -> turn off private network firewall (Public is on with "Notify me when Windows Firewall blocks an incoming connection" checked)

On my phone:
1) Open ES File Explorer -> Lan tab
2) Add new server
3) Server <ip of computer>/share name ex: 192.168.1.10/music
4) Your user name on the PC
5) Your password on the PC

This will not work if you aren't on your local WiFi. Unless you know what you're doing and setup a dyndns account and do some port forwarding...but then you've just opened up a big security hole :)
My problem is in seeing the content off ext. HDD's connected to laptop. I have already shared them with everybody and provided all access to everybody. Can see my laptop as well as local HDD but it just does not want to connect to ext. HDD (login error) and no matter what user id with what password I select it just doesn't do it.

Anybody know how or if there is a way of gaining access to ext. HDD connected to a laptop

PS I have an Windows pro 8.1 64 bit installation running on the laptop. the .1 was downloaded from micro-soft as freebie upgrade not sure if this is where the problem originates...

Found a solution that works for me.
Look for event id 2017 in your win 7 logs. If you find it apply this changes to registry:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache --> Set value to 1

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\Size --> Set value to 3

Restart windows, clear data of es file explorer and scan your network again.

Hope it helps.

Just wanted to add my own solution to the list after fiddling around for a while with everything on google that didn't make a difference. I just got fed up and 'pinged' my phone from my PC and after that it connected fine. Why, I have no idea.

On the phone (Galaxy S4 KitKat), I opened the Wi Fi list, tapped and held over my household Wi Fi, tapped 'modify network config' in the popup, clicked 'show advanced options', and did this to get the 'IP address' from the bottom of the info for my phone on the local network. It was 192.168.0.12.

Then on my pc I opened a command prompt (start > run > type 'cmd' hit enter) and typed 'ping' and my phone's LAN IP: "ping 192.168.0.12". After doing this, my phone could immediately connect to my PC again with ES File Explorer. I was just so mad that the phone kept telling me that my PC server wasn't there I was like "well can the PC even see the phone!?" so I tried pinging it. I don't know why that made a difference but it was fixed immediately after. To anyone else having this problem, don't give up, you'll find your own crazy solution eventually.

Hi frenz my problem is i m using es explore last 1 years. I had some my important data encrypted with password than last 5 day ago i was format my handset afterthat my without encrypt data is steel here on my phone but that encrypted data is missing now what shud i do for recover of my data please help me out and sorry for my bad enhlish

Hi,

I had the same problem. It was with the router. The router was DLink Dsl 2750 u. In wireless basic settings > enable multicast isolation was enabled, I disabled it and I was able to access my pc. Check it if multicast isolation is enabled on your router. If it is disable it.

In my case the problem was the password. I changed my password for my Microsoft Account to a new password but the password that worked was the old password. I guess it's a bug with windows.

Was having the same problem on a Win 7 Pro Thinkpad. My shared folder was recognized but ES wouldn't open it. Followed this post--added "Everyone" as a user and allowed all permissions, and it finally worked. Thanks, man.

Before this, i have no problem using normal method (as shared by many blogs/forums) to connect between phone and windows 10 pc..
I bought new Surface Go windows 10 S mode, using the normal method i had used before, but i cannot access the shared folder.
I tried many solutions/methods for hours until i found this.
I confirmed, this works with Windows 10 S Mode. Thank you.
