ESN Change... Illegal?

Hello all, My dad got the Galaxy S2 Epic Touch, and gave his old Epic to me. Would it be illegal to put to on Virgin Mobile using my Intercept as donor phone with this guide:http://www.groovypost.com/howto/epic-4g-on-virgin-mobile/
Also, does it change anything if I zero out Intercepts meid?
If it matters, I live in indiana.

Changing your esn is illegal and there are only certain places that will allow a phone to be flashed to their network. Virgin Mobile is not on of them. Cricket is one of the companies that allow a phone to be flashed with them.
