ET4G data speeds vs Evo

Silent R

Lurker
I have read plenty of posts by people complaining about the poor data speeds on their ET4G's, and it has me a little concerned. Now it has been my plan to purchase this phone, so I had to do a little research on my own.

Yesterday I went to the Sprint Store so I could compare speeds with my Evo. I ran a bunch of tests and here's what I got...

4g - there were no issues....ET4G was a little faster, running around 6-7 mbps.

3g - a whole different story. On my Evo, it tested between 1.2 - 2.1 mbps on the download, and around .7 mbps on the up. But the ET4G didn't fare as well. The download scores went from .2 - 1.1 mbps, but were below .5 mbps most of the time. While the upload never went above .2 mbps.

However, I then spent a good 15 minutes surfing webpages, and using the GPS, and everything seemed to be fine.

So, at this point I am very conflicted.

Any thoughts.....

I'm in the St. Paul/Minneapolis suburbs. What's funny is, I only started seeing these speeds in the last couple weeks. Before, I'd be lucky if I hit .7 mbps. Now, all of a sudden, I am pretty much always over 1 mbps.

That's why I am trying to figure out what the hell is going on with these poor speeds on the ET4G!! I really like the phone, but don't want to get screwed on a piece of equipment that won't perform.

new here and browsing around. didn't know you could do a speed test on a smartphone..from Speedtest dot net

download:
5632kbps

upload:
930kbps

I did an eye speed test with my EVO vs my ET4G and they EVO was left crying on the sidelines. I mean the ET4G just blew my trusty EVO out of the water it was no test.

All EVOs need to be taken out back and put down.

If you are referring to 4G speeds, I would agree with you. But 3G is another story, at least for me. I ran a number of tests, and the ET4G couldn't touch what my Evo was getting.

I could be wrong, but based on the things I have been reading, it's the poor 3G speeds that has everyone up in arms. 4G has been more than solid, but I rely more on the 3G because I travel around for my job.

I have a friend with an evo, and have ran the speedtests several times to compare and speeds have been comparable. Sometime the evo wins out but sometimes the et4g does. Where I live we have also seen some improvement in the last two weeks in data speeds, but not as much as you are reporting. No 4g where I live.
