Help Eternal text message

A couple months back, I was texting a friend of mine and my Vibrant seemed to seize up on me. I restarted my phone and it said I had an unread text message. When I click on that message to read it, the phone vibrates a couple of times and then displays: "The application Messaging has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.", giving me the option to 'Force close'. If I swipe the drop down, I can clear the message icon but as soon as I receive a new text message, it says I have two: the one I just received and the one that seems to be frozen in my phone. This only happens when I try to read that one message. I've tried taking the battery out but as soon as I restart the phone, it tells me I have that message waiting. Any thoughts?

Welcome to AF! :)

Have you tried clearing the cache and data associated with the messaging app? Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Messages/Messaging -> Clear Data/Cache.
