Event pop up notifier

Is there an app that opens up a pop up to notify you of calendar events?
Also, when I missed an event with my old (non-android) phone a pop up message stayed on the homescreen until I acknowledged it. Is there an app that does this too?...the native calendar doesn't seem to do this.

Not sure that this will give you exactly what you are looking for but it's a really nice reminder app. I use it mostly for the LED, it has not missed an event yet. There is a paid version as well.

Thanks, although this is not the perfect solution is will solve 2 issues I was having with the native calendar!

i recently added an app just for that:
foobarblog 2.0 Android App: Calendar Event Reminder

displays a popup for an upcoming calendar event. also let's you set for which mode (silent, vibration, normal) you get vibration or alarm sound. also has:
- repeating reminders
- snoozing option
- customizable vibration pattern / alarm sound, length of alarm
- reminder stays open after last alarm

I ended up using calendar snooze. I absolutely love android, but the fact that simple stuff like this requires installing an app really grinds my gear (specially when cheap cell phones had most of these options 10 years ago)
