Root Evervolv 4.3

I tried it out but I couldn't even set anything up because the stock keyboard kept FCing. is this a known issue?

I had the same issue on my Kindle Fire but I'm not sure if it's a CM thing or bad flashes

Make sure you're using 4.3 gapps

That is a known issue, if you are using old gapps

So MMS works for VM on the 10.2 CM build, but not evervolv? Did I read that right?

try taking the mms_config out of the CM 10.2 MMS, and putting it into the evervolv file. I THINK its called that anyway...

It's under /res/xml. Push to /system/app, set permissions to rw-r-r, and reboot.

Of course, make a nandroid first.

No, i don't think MMS on vm is working on 4.3 period

3g was just recently fixed, and i assume that MMS on sprint works on both roms

Yeah I was referring to it working on Sprint. I don't think VM is getting any love at the moment.
Although there were some posts of users having issues with MMS. Not sure if they were Sprint or VM... Maybe Sprint doesn't have it quite right, either...

On dastins 10-1 build
Data and MMS will work

However I had to flash sprint version and swap apns myself....the VM version would not get data connection for some reason

You could try the cm10.1 MMS fix, it probably works

But I do it this way....post 2
FIXED: Can't send MMS? Sprint / Boost / Virgin Mobile APN Settings Problem! - xda-developers

Thanks again. Method 1 from post 2 off your link worked. Now MMS, SMS, Wifi, and data all working and running smooth.

Did you get VVM to work properly? If you did, would you please give me a hint or a link to follow?

A minor point: a message "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped." popped up when I pressed System Settings -> Device -> Buttons. Have you experienced the same message on your phone?

I don't use the vvm, but you should try the angry bean fix...just make a backup before you flash
I had no issues going to button settings

Also I flashed mirage jb kernel this morning, and I have yet to see any issues

Okay I had almost everything set up, and i realized 3rd party keyboards don't seem to work. I tried Smartkeyboard and Kii Keyboard but nothing. :(

They work for me
Make sure you select a default keyboard

Thanks for the updates, got everything working including Swiftkey on CM10.2 ROM, not sure what the problem is with other keyboards then. Haven't tried a different kernel but the default one is so smooth and quick I don't know that I would want to flash a different one. Post any improvements you notice by switching kernels.

I've already noticed better battery with mirage.

I am also running greenify

I've tried three different keyboards and all work with no problems (while on mirage)

The only gripe I have is the little notification that says 'phandroid is running'
But I set the back button to kill apps, so that is a quick fix

Flashing AngryBean-VMM.zip "and" CM10_1MMS with MmsFix+cache.zip after a perfect CM10.2_sprint installation yielded constant error messages unfortunately. So I tried CM10.2_vm along with AngryBean-VMM.zip and everything worked so far except the Settings->Buttons hiccup. Md5sum was verified correctly against the shootervm file. I believe it is a small bug of the 10.1.2013 release of the VM version.

I also experienced a faster battery drain from the default kernel and am interested in MiRaGe's JB kernel. Is this the kernel MiRaGe_shooter_test_kernel_972_jb from mrg666's post to which you referred?

Thanks again for your help. So many knowledgeable people around here.

Try going to setting>Apps then select the Phandroid app in the apps list and deselect "Show Notifications" and see if that helps.

I think I have the prior release

That removes the notification, but the problem is it will not hibernate...killing the app works for me

Ahhh, thought maybe it was the constant notification that was getting bothersome. I'm not an expert on these matters but I believe Android will automatically kill an app running in the background (like Phandroid) that has had notifications disabled to free up RAM when it is needed. May not be helpful for battery life, however it shouldn't effect your phone's performance. I would think there's a way to manually cut it off other than having to keep clearing it away but I'm no help with that, gl.

Got it working, thanks! I think it was that I was restoring the apps from an Angry Bean back up I had. Not sure why it would cause an issue but hey! It works now :)
