Everything went!

Hi forgive me if this has been asked before or is a common fault.

I have had my Samsung Galaxy S since April 2011 and I have loved it!!

Last Friday my phone turned off due to a low battery although it was fully charged just 1 hour before.

I turned it on and some of the icons on my home screen were missing. I looked at my messages and the threads were empty. I then looked at contacts and it was empty. My music, apps and photos were still accessible.

I obviously lost some very important messages and over 60 contacts. The middle button wouldn't respond so I did a system restore (I'd already lost everything so didnt mind) the middle button worked for around 2 hours then went again.

I took it back to the store and it's now with Samsung to be fixed but does anyone know what happened? how I can prevent it?

My phone is in case, never dropped etc

Can you remember doing anything to the phone prior to when problem started..??
Did you instal any tool app, delete system files etc..most likely will be hardware issue and not software.. Could be a freakish coincidence or somewhere you have done something..
Keep us posted with response from retailer..
