I've got my heart set on this card. It's not actually a real 560, though. nVidia did something sneaky.

It's basically a toned down 580. Can't shake a stick at it. It does Dx11, 3D Vision, has 2 Dual-Link DVI plus an HDMI, and has a monster double-fan chip cooler. Oh, and did I mention this is a limited run GPU?

Thing is...should I keep my (newer) GTS250 for PhysX and sell both of my GTX260s, or keep one of the GTX260s (I'd keep the SSC version, which is labeled as a regular 260, got it via step-up from eVGA, but the BIOS has been flashed (from factory) to SSC speeds)....

Decisions, Decisions.... :p
 
Going big would be the 580 dual GPU card, but I ain't got that kind of money lol....

Unless you know of someone willing to give me 5 grand? :p

Seriously, though, I like this limited run card - my only concern is that if they could not pass the tests to be a true 580, and then also didn't quite make it at the 570 level, how are the cores disabled, by programmable BIOS or by physical destruction of connections / cores?

If it is just software, and some enterprising fellow / gal figures it out, then - hell, yes, I'll take a 580 for $300 :D

And if it is destruction of connections, but the cores are intact, well, I'm a whiz with a soldering iron! :D:D:D

I was actually asking myself the same question. If you do end up purchasing this GPU, let me know what the deal is. Maybe I'll pick one up myself.
 
I'm researching this info everywhere I can but no one seems to know (or want to say) how the disabled cores come into play.

This is almost definitely going to be my Christmas present to myself this year....
 
Are you going SLI with the new card(s)?

I'm trying to imagine how big your case must be....

It always shocks me how big graphics cards have become. when I first got the 260s, I was like... "is that a hero sandwich?" OK, not really, but ya know... :D
 
No, it will be a single 560 and a single 250 / 260 dedicated to PhysX....

Hence the reduction in power consumption
 
Yea, this thing is going to be a gigantic space heater when you're done.

Should be good with running the 250 for physx, then the 560.
 
OK, it just arrived via UPS. Time to take the computer down and slap this bad boy in.

Batman Arkham Asylum looks better than it did before. SkyRim - I'm breaking the bank with constant 60+ FPS on everything maxed out, using the advanced button on the configurator app.

but the biggest change was, believe it or not, in Need For Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed.

I can now race with absolutely no pauses, on full maxed out settings, and consistently hit 55+ FPS.

Oh, and my Processor is now my bottleneck in my WEI :p

what cpu do you have?

I only have an original or "real" gtx560ti, but I get between 60-70fps on unleashed. all maxed settings @1920x1080.

Core i7 965 EE on eVGA X58 Classified 3 pushing 12 GB of Mushkin Enhanced Redline 12 GB : 3 x 4 GB Memory - DIMM 240-pin - 1600 MHz ( PC3-12800 )

Running @ 1680 * 1050 since that is all the monitors I have can handle (safely lol).

I haven't actually measured the frame rate yet, but I plan to soon. I'm going by the smoothness of the video, and at anything below 45 it started looking choppy on my 260ss.

I haven't truly benched this out yet, but I plan to do so this weekend, if things allow for it. Usually, though, I'm too busy racing....

Oh, and the game is not installed to my SSD - may remedy that soon since it may make all the difference in the world (doubt it, but....)
 
Haha. Of course, enabling V-sync will limit the framerate as well....

During cinematics I saw as much as 300_ FPS, and just before starting a race it spikes above 400. However, during racing (as little as I can pay attention) it's hitting 80+.

I suppose that now I need to get fraps to accurately measure framerate, huh?
 
Something ain't right about the way Fraps is running though - it runs for like a half second and stops, and yet my log says it ran for 397 seconds? Doubt it.

I plan to test a bit more soon enough....

I'm looking to replace my 2x GTX260 soonish but I'd like to future proof a bit. They've been with me since 1/2009. I'd love to go down to a single card too, but not sure if I can given I have a 3 monitor setup atm (for working, not gaming).
