Help Evo 3.70.. and Swype 2.15..

So as we all know, the latest OTA update for the Evo includes Swype, however this swype version (2.7..) is not the latest version released to beta testers (2.15..)

With the old version of Swype is built in, is there any way to get the newer version without waiting for the next OTA update? They finally did something about that damn hidden word pop-up message in 2.15 and I found it to be a major improvement.

Thats a great question... I had the newest swype beta on my phone and loved it but when i switched to myns Rls5 i had to uninstall it and use the one that came with 3.7 and im hating it... that hidden word pop up window drives me crazy...

Unfortunately, you're going to have to live with the version that comes with the OTA. Even if you root, remove the current swype, and try to install the beta, it won't work. It will just say that you need to use the OTA version.

Assuming you have the latest OTA, long press on any input field, press input method, then select swype.

Yeah, I wasn't all that happy when I tried to install the beta again after 3.70 was released (but before I updated to it) and found that they wouldn't let Evo owners use it anymore. Oh well, it's really not *that* bad.

My opinion of swore (swype) so far is warm at best. It likes to insert "out" instead of "it" far too often. I also have issues with using the dollar sign, and out (it) really likes to insert "3g" EVERYTIME I type "3". I have to select 3 from the list every time. There are a number of other issues a well, but I am not going into them all here.
