Help Evo 3d randomly turning off... is it my case??

Ive had my evo3d since september, and have never really had any problems with it. Last week I got 2 new cases in the mail from singapore. one was all plastic with a bruahed aluminum back. Now it seems to just shut off. Sometimes when im using it, sometimes when im not. It also does it now when the case isnt on. is it possible that the metal back screwed up my phone?

I doubt it is because of the case. It's more likely due to an app or something in the cache that is making your phone reboot.

Are you rooted? If so, you can just clear out the cache and dalvik and see if that helps.

If not, the quickest way of finding out if it's software related would be to factory reset your phone. That does wipe out the entire device, though, so back up what you need to.

I'm not so sure - if that case was holding heat in and if the battery getting warmer than usual, then this could all be a side-effect of a heat-damaged battery.

Any heating issues to report when you used the case, OP?

No heat issues. I can put it on and 2 min later it will shut off. Switched cases and no problems at all today. I did some more testing and it seems it does it mostly when I put it in my car dock. It doea do it sometimes when not in the dock, and other cases dont do that in the dock.

I have the same issue.

I notice that my phone only turns off when I'm nowhere near data coverage. When I'm at work, the phone is good. But when I'm in my bedroom (bad signal), it randomly turns off. I don't have any explanation for the correlation between weak signal and why it turns off. But in my case, it seems to be related to signal issue.

What I did is to turn off the data connection when I'm in my bedroom, and it never turns off ever since. Also, I tried using airplane mode, but it also turned the phone off. Never use the airplane mode again. So for me, the solution is to turn off the data connection.
