Evo 4g need to root

[scaredshitless]

this is my first smart phone, i have had it since the summer and always meant to root it, but i have never gotten around to it for fear of bricking it.

i am thinking of rooting with unrevoked forever to get the s-off status like a devoper phone but i CANNOT brick my phone.

if someone is feeling friendly i would love some help, warnings, tips on what to NEVER do. etc. etc.
