EVO Hotspot unlocked??

Does anyone know if the Sprint hotspot app loaded into the EVO is purposely unlocked? I was curious and decided to turn it on just to see what it did and surprise I was able to use it as a hotspot!!! I'm not paying the 30 extra for the hotspot so why is it allowing me to use it?

Before I get too excited, does anyone know if Sprint can detect if you are using it and charge you for it at the end of the month? I would think that this app should be locked by default right? Please tell me if you have tried using the hotspot. Thanks.

For the time being it works only over 4G without paying for the hotspot feature, I think they're going to add in the fee requirement next month.

...Wow, research please. Lots of thread on this topic already.

Sprint gave us free hotspot for a month..but it is only restricted to 4G. If you want 3G, then either pay for the fee or root your phone.
