To recover pictures and videos you can try plugging the phone into a PC. These things should be stored in user accessible memory and you should be able to copy them off using the file manager application.
Contacts and calendar events, for the most part, should have sync'd to your primary email. Many people use Gmail for this. If, however, the contacts were copied in as local only contacts than recovering them will be difficult.
