Evo V Battery life

Hope everyone is enjoying their EVO V's that have one and for whoever is still waiting, it's worth the wait. Curious question for all of you that do have yours though, what do you think about the battery life?

I am absolutely blown away by the battery life. I'm not sure if it's the 1730mAh battery or ICS but I take my EVO off the charger at 9am CT, have fb notifications, email pushing, weather updating every hour and general other things like surfing the web and taking pictures and at 9pm, I still have at least 30% battery life.

Every other phone I've had including the Triumph would be dead by now at 10pm central time. I would've thought having a bigger screen would drain the battery as well but I'm blown away by it. Was just wondering if I got a lucky EVO or if you guys have great battery life too.

I have full service constantly as a note.

I've been impressed with the battery life. I would normally charge my Triumph at work after 6 hours of streaming music. Today I streamed all day and came home with 28%. I use wifi all the time and that destroyed the Triumph battery.
I couldn't get cpuspy working, it was saying no states file found, but betterbatterystats shows that the phone goes into deep sleep even with wifi on.

Battery life has been awful for me since I got my phone on Saturday (even with GPS, 4G and sync turned off). I'd start using it at 8am to access email, RSS and some other stuff and it would quickly go from 100% to 85% just in the first 45 minutes of use. Usually by 4pm, I'd be down to 30%. I purchased the Seidio Innocel 4000mAh battery so that I can go a full day without charging.

I have been ripping into it in prep for the Harmonia rom, I was actually surprised at how much was running in the background sucking down juice.

A good rom should do amazing things for the battery.

I didn't even take the stock battery out of the box lol

I used the 4000mAh battery from the start. Took forever to charge but I'll see how this battery goes tomorrow.

I'd love to hear how you guys like the 4000mah Seidio battery - mine is in the mail.

I haven't had my Seidio for the Evo V long enough yet to give any impressions - plus they say you have to go through 5 or 6 full charges before it reaches its maximum capacity, so it'll probably take me a week to do that.

However, I had a Seidio on my old HTC Evo 4G with Sprint and it would definitely last all day and sometimes two days or more with normal use. In standby, the phone would stay charged for nearly a week. It lasted long enough to make battery life something I never even thought about, which was nice.

Time will tell, but I hope to get the same results with the Evo V.

Can someone with the 4000mah Seidio battery tell me what the difference in the thickness of the phone is between the stock back on and having the extended battery cover on. I have also been thinking about getting this battery with the Seido active extended back and just don't really want the phone to be much bigger. What are your thoughts on the size of the phone with the bigger battery?

Honestly, it adds quite a bit of bulk. I don't mind it tho. Off of my INITIAL charge, on 6 1/2 hours of standby with background data running, it dropped 1%.

The back cover that comes with the Seidio battery is tapered so it's thicker at the bottom than at the top, but it pretty much doubles the thickness of the Evo V. It obviously makes it heavier too. The phone still fits in my front pocket, so it's not a big deal for me, but it definitely takes away from the sleek appearance of the phone IMO. Even with all of that, there's no way I would use this phone without it.

I didn't like the look of it really but with the right case, it can look decent. I have the Seidio Active Extended case.

The screen plows through the battery on this thing.

In standby I am getting about 1-2% per hour, with the screen on I'm getting about 20% per hour.

Not entirely bad considering the screen this things pushes, but not great either.

Just an fyi....

Did a test last night. Charged to full before I went to bed, then left the Evo off the charger as I slept. GPS/bluetooth off, wifi on.

I am now at 89% at 12 hours. That would come to about 5 days of life if the phone is just left alone in standby.

So it looks like the standby time on the Evo is going to be great, with average battery life while the screen is on.

Does your LED stay on red after charging for forever?

I just ordered a 3500mAh hour battery and cover from Amazon for $18.98 today (Friday) and it will be delivered by Monday. What a deal. The same sized battery tripled my Samsung Facinate's usability by a factor of 3.

Still too new to tell for certain, I'm still learning and playing, which eats batteries but I'm pretty sure 2 days will be the norm on Harmonia. I also just ordered the slightly larger Anker battery (fits under stock cover), which should give me a solid 2 days under my normal use.

I can certainly live with that.

With 4G off I take it..

At 21 hours now at 58% on stock battery. This phone seems to be excellent at standby and limited use. That is in a weak signal area (my house and surrounding area) and signal the whole time (just saying it is connected, not in airplane mode). Two email accounts set to push are always on, as well as a battery monitor app that collects more detailed info.

I did do a conditioning run on it.... don't know if it helps, some people say yes, some no.

  • Let it run down to nothing
  • Plug it in, charge to full while on
  • Unplug, power off, charge to full again (till green light)
  • Unplug, power on, power off, charge to full again (till green light)
  • Unplug, power on.... go back to normal use.
This cycle tries to max the battery capacity. Don't know if it works, but if not then it doesn't hurt to try.

So my battery when. It is on the charge seems to go back and forth between 99 and 100 percent. Seems odd.

It stops charging at 100% and begins to use battery to prevent overcharging which would ruin the battery. It begins charging back up again around 98-99% (some phones begin charging again even at 92%!)
Completely normal.

I bought the 4000 mAh extended battery off amazon. The last time I charged my phone was 2 days ago finished at 4 pm. It's close to 3pm now and I still have 35 percent left. I've been streaming video (for 2 hours), music, wifi has been on for 2 days straight. Unbelievable.

Its pretty huge to be honest but I don't mind. I like having a bit of heft to my phones. For battery life see my post above. I have to run a lot of medical apps with wifi throughout the day so this will save me.
