Evo V vs. iPhone 4S

Virgin Mobile has recently released a date for the iPhone 4S on Virgin Mobile and I started thinking twice about the Evo V. I'd like to ask for your help to decide. I mean I love the Android OS and everything about it but IOS is cool too.
Please Help!!!!

EDIT: I've decided. Android is way better! If only there was some way I could delete this post...
I'm probably going to be frowned upon in these forums. (x

Yes you will be frowned upon.

Lol jk. Whatever phone someone likes shouldn't be held against him/her. I think iphones are good phones but it's just not for me.

When I first saw the thread I thought I was going reading about which the user should get. Android's and iOS shouldn't be placed in the same sentence...ever. Really it depends on what you like, do you like open source OS or iOS? Do you favor Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 or iOS 4? Do you need a dual core phone or single core phone? If it were me (but never will be me) I would wait and see what Virgin Mobile does as far as pricing with the iPhone 4, it could be very possible that the iPhones be on a totally separate plan. Personally i'll never betray Android I am very content with my HTC EVO 3D does everything I want it too all on a 4.3 qHD screen. :D

I'm sticking with the Evo myself, can't beat that screen size! A 3.5 inch screen is just too small for me. Besides, even though IOS is awesome I lean more towards android OS.

Let me see, Evo V 4G at cost of $299.99 + tax vs iPhone 4S 8GB @ cost of $549.99 + tax. That just about does it for me. :) I just find more value in Evo V 4G

Agree with you all, I love my larger screen and 4g. I do want that $5 discount with auto pay though. Make me get rid of my 25 dollar plan then release a new phone that gets a discount boo.

According the the articles I've read, the $549 iPhone 8GB is actually the older iphone 4, not the 4S... The 16GB is the 4S.

Well, let's see... I like being about to install my choice of email clients, browsers, widgets, app stores, music players, etc. I also like purchasing my music from Amazon's MP3 store. I don't want to be forced to use iTunes for anything. Also, I can't do without the 4.3 inch screen on the Evo. ...and I have an iPod Touch that I never use, so an iPhone is not even a consideration for me.

I must say VM is finally getting better phones. They went from the Intercept to the iPhone. But if i had to choose between the iPhone and Evo i would choose Evo. I have big hands and can't wrap my hands around the iPhone. Plus i like android better, more customizable ui

1. you asking in the biggest android forum.. guess what the answer will be? :P

2. I hate apple's business strategy.. of steal what you can.. sue those that try it too.. sue those that innovate faster...

3. i refuse to give them a $$ .. even if the device is better!!!! cant support apple and their evil ways.

4. android is better in so many ways.

5. i like choice and freedom.

Nothing wrong with an individual liking iphone or any other OS . For the most part, members here are pretty good of respecting what other OS folks like. Now the one's that come on here to try and force their beliefs on how superior iphones are, folks on here will get annoyed. Anyways a new iphone is suppose to be coming out with a bigger screen, you might want to wait but if you are one that don't care about having the newest device then by all means go for what you like and enjoy.

if apple comes out with a bigger screen.. I hope google jams that down their throat.

it would be great if google patent phone devices with bigger than 3.5". since Jobs did say there is never a need for bigger than 3.5. 3.5 is the perfect size.

No brainer, twice the price for much lesser hardware. Only if I was trying to impress the other kids on the playground and mommy and daddy paid for my new Iphone. Nah I don't even think that could do it for me. :D On the bright side it will definitely bring in much needed dollars for Sprint to continue with their LTE rollout. Makes me wonder though, Cricket can manage a $900 million deal and it cost Sprint $15 Billion, does Dan Hesse own Apple shares?

I'm going to be getting a new phone in the next two months or so. I have an LG Optimus V which I've had for six months, and I hate it. I'm constantly fighting low-memory problems. It seems to stop getting my emails (without telling me) when memory gets low.

At the moment, the two replacements I am considering are the HTC Evo 4G, and the iPhone 4S.

The upside of the HTC is it's a less expensive phone to purchase. The larger screen is not a plus for me, I bicycle on trails out in the boonies a lot, and a larger screen is slightly less convenient to cart around.

The downside is that if I get the HTC, it needs tethering capability, as I have one or two necessary geocaching IOS apps on my iPod touch that are probably never going to be on Android. It looks like tethering is a $15/mo. option on the HTC, and honestly, if I'm going to pay the monthly plan fee plus the tethering fee, I may as well go down to the AT&T store and get an iPhone which I won't need to tether anything to, I can just put the apps on it. It would cost about the same per month. And I would have to carry only one device instead of two.

The downside to VMs iPhone plane is that it only offers the 16 gig unit. That's not quite enough to replace my iPod touch completely. Score one for the HTC.

I'd rather not be completely dependent on Apple's eco-system, that's the reason I got the Android phone in the first place. I'm neither an Android fanatic or an Apple fanatic, I'll go with whatever meets my needs. I have no philosophical ax to grind.

I'm wondering if there is any way to transfer my Android apps from the Optimus V to an HTC Evo and keep all my settings/preferences/data intact? I can move all this from the iPod touch to the iPhone.

I'm unmoved by any arguments that Android hardware is superior in quality to the iPhone. I've been employed in the high-tech electronics industry for 40+ years and am in a better position to judge this for myself than most.
