hi.
i have written about this app before, "quick app manager", which costs $1.08. i have no relationship and do not receive any money for this, and you are welcome to review my past posts.
anyway, a great new upgrade / update is it now shows "mobile traffic" for every app you have, for rooted or not rooted phones. it can be reset monthly. i also use it to clean my cache from market, web and from apps themselves.
the new "mobile traffic" feature in "quick app manager" shows apps that have NO reason to access the internet and no business to spy on you. for example, my favorite utility app, which is free, "tiny flashlight + led" and "guns 'n' glory ww2" send back user statistics, also know as datamining / spying. if you are not rooted, you can decide to use or not use an app. also, if you are wondering what apps are data whores you can decide to keep the app or not. if you are rooted, you MAY be able to block non essential permissions.

if you are rooted, you can use "permissions denied" a free app, to block datamining / spy permissions if the app will allow it. some apps have code that makes the app not work, but you can USUALLY block access, IF ROOTED. examples are: start up at boot, read phone state, wake lock, write external storage (if not needed), access network state (your phone number, sim and phone serial numbers, access wifi, modify wifi, camera, take pictures/video, control nfc, access contacts, coarse network location, fine gps location, etc., etc., etc. please remember some apps need these permissions, but others have NO need to. fyi, blocking internet access on angry birds, angry birds space and rio BLOCKS annoying pop up and forced video ads!!
