I have a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. When I try to set up MS Exchange email in either the email or gmail apps I am given a list of permissions that include the server has the right to wipe my phone completely without notice. The others are all equally catastrophic. Co-workers do not have this problem, and MS denies it is from them.
What can I do?

Welcome to the next part of the 21st century. If you bring your own device to the office network, the company has the right to wipe all company data from your phone. (Data is a commodity, and the company owns its data, even if it's on a phone you paid for.)

If the phone is set up to keep private and company data areas separate, all the server can wipe is company data. If not, it can wipe the whole phone.

This is a finger-pointing situation. The manufacturer will blame the carrier, the carrier will blame the manufacturer and your tech support people will blame both of them.

Your solution? Use a phone that someone else in the company uses and doesn't have that problem with. Or live with it and make daily backups of everything. Or buy one phone for personal use and one for company use.
