Exchange Service 3.1

Hi all - I am holding a samsung S2 mobile and upgraded my OS to ICS long back. Never found any issues with the OS and the new features are delighting.

I always access internet through the data network mode. Since yesterday, I noticed that my internet is being heavily consumed by some service. Unknowingly, I have de-installed many applications to see if the internet consumption stops. But it never stopped. I then observed a system service called Exchange Service 3.1 running behind the scenes. I stopped this service, and I could see that the internet consumption has stopped. However, the internet consumption started once again after sometime, and then I permanently disabled Exchange Service 3.1. The internet usage is fine now.

It has consumed more than 300 MB in a day. I am happy to see that my internet usage is not going waste now. But, I am sad that the sync of my outlook is not working any longer. There might be more unknown problems.

1) May I know why this service has consumed huge data in a single day?
2) What is this service for?
3) What would be the consequences when this service is disabled?

Please help me avoid unwanted wastage of my internet. Thanks.

Regards
Sai
