Exchanging razr for razr maxx...?

Would there be any way to do an exchange through vzw or did we sorta get bionic'd? From the pics I saw, the maxx does not look all that much thicker?

If my crazy eBay situation ends up going the way of a refund through eBay then I'll be getting the Maxx probably if I can get it for near the same price on eBay as the standard Razr. Otherwise I'll stick with the standard razr, I don't feel like I'll be going through the battery before I can find a wall outlet so I may just get a standard Razr for the thinness anyway. Guess, simple answer is I don't even know what I'm going to do. It's pretty cool looking though.

The only way to do it with little 'out of pocket $' is if you fall within the 14 day return policy. Plus there's a $35 re-stocking fee.

Fortunately for me, I DO fall within that 14 day policy (got my Razr last Sun 1/22) so I'm gonna get me a MAXX today!

I just bought my Razr on Friday so I'm within my exchange window. I'm going to go look at it and if it feels nice I'll get it. I haven't had any loss of use due to battery concerns with the Razr but if I can pack a monster battery and still have a handset that feels nice in the hand, why not?

Personally I don't think the cost would justify trading in a Razr for a Razr Maxx, unless you are within your 14 day window.

for those of us on a budget, I don't think the extra hundred bucks is worth the battery unless you CONSTANTLY use apps like Netflix on 4G and stuff... the battery is honestly not that bad if you are smart about it, have SmartActions and even JuiceDefender set

I went in, picked up a Maxx to compare the weight and feel, and walked out with one. Yes, it's thicker and a bit heavier but rather than feeling bulky I believe it gives the phone a solid feel. Think of it as a flyweight vs a middleweight. I think it's a decent tradeoff for the added battery capacity.

Well, I got my RAZR on release day. I just checked Verizon Wireless and it says that I can get the MAXX for 249. I have even gone all the way to checkout and the price stayed the same. I checked on the Verizon trade in policy and they will give me 138 dollars for my RAZR. Technically I could get the MAXX for 111 dollars. I have not checked craigs list or ebay to see what the RAZR is going for. Now I have to decide to what I want to do.

Confused. What do you have to do to get the MAXX for $249 ?

I did not do anything, that is the price that shows up when I log into my Verizon wireless account on line. I don't know why it does this. I had the same thing happen when I bought the RAZR, it gave me the two year contract price when I had just upgraded to the Thunderbolt.

My thoughts are that if the phone is able to make it through a whole day that I'm fine with the regular razr. At home, work and my car I have access to a charger for emergency's. However I see people having issues with a Maxx dying on day two in the middle of the day without a charger because they have a false sense of security in the battery length and they didn't charge it at night.

Maybe it thinks you are going to add another line ? Yea I just checked; by default i thinks I will be signing a two year contract with presumes I will be adding a line (I think). If i indicate otherwise it shows me the full price.

Nope, I log in, click on upgrade my device (RAZR) and it brings me to the list of phones. The MAXX is 249. It is a new two year agreement, but not a new line.

Pulled the trigger last night. Paid $249 but the trade in on the RAZR went up to $148. So after the trade in on the RAZR, I will have the MAXX at my door tomorrow for $101.

Congrats on the Razr maxx, but you really should have sold your razr outright....They go for 350-450 here..Id given you 250 in a heartbeat for it.....not sure how you got an upgrade so fast,my last new supplimented device was on 8/10/2010...my Droid X.....Im not eligable until 4/10/12....I just went on and checked its 649.00 if I want the Maxx.I am the Master on a 3 phone family plan.....By 4/10 im sure something better will be out from Samsung and Motorola.

The other way to do it is to sign up for a new line, then cancel your old line:

Early termination fee - $175
Phone + activ fee - $249 + $35

COST - $459

Sell Razr on Ebay - $350 approx

Net cost - $109

Be aware if you were grandfathered with unlimited data, you will lose that.

Wait and cancel the new line and just swap hardware on the old line with unlimited data. But I believe smart phones are over 300 to terminate.

Its $350 to cancel with a "promotional phone". Which they consider iphones, razrs and any other new phone with retail over $250.

I'd like to swap from a RAZR to a MAXX. I believe my plan is going to be to wait a few weeks for MAXX spare parts to become available and get a battery and back door and install them on the RAZR. From what I've seen thus far, this will be about ~$60 and I'll still have the original parts. :D

Has anyone confirmed it's a simple battery and back swap? Do the Sim and SD card door/slot line up exactly?
