Android can not install .exe files , the Android OS installs .apk files

Carl

Executables (.exe) are a Windows format. Android is not based on Windows, so you cannot install a program with a ".exe" extension. In order to install an application on an Android phone, you can either do it automatically by getting the app from the Market, or - as Carl C said - download Android Package (.apk) files to install, though to do it this way you will probably want to have a file browser installed; Astro is a commonly used / good one.

OK. I'm quiet new to Android as well. So, my question is if we can't install .exe files is there any way of installing them by using different program or something inside Android.

My case: I have a printer that needs installation (under .exe file) to be recognized in the system and i have google ipad thingy that has USB and i want to connect the printer to it. So, how can i install the printer to the android device?

Thank you in advance!

short answer: you are not going to be able to do this

long answer: You could try to find a unix device driver for your printer, push it onto your google tablet and see if it works (if you can even push files). Do you have root?

longer answer: Write your own device driver

Simplest solution: Install the printer on a network and print to it there.
