Root Experiment: Need ANTI-Brick advice!

Most of this is personal experience. I have two of these phone. One is fine, the other started with airplane mode brick, then samsung logo brick later.
WARNING!!!
DO NOT (airplane mode brick) dd if=/stl5.dd of=/dev/block/stl5 while booted into android (not tested on cwm)
DO NOT (full samsung logo brick) use another phones bml5 image and dd if=/bml5.dd of=/dev/block/bml5 while booted into cwm (not tested on android)

YOU CAN restore dd backups of bml1,2,3,4 from your phone or another same model phone without problems

YOU CAN make dd backups of ALL bml partitions in cwm without problems!!!


DO NOT

editing the rfs files with Magic ISO corrupts symlinks, have to do it Linux, Thanks Shabby

YOU CAN
Cross flash between the Samsung Precedent Straight Talk(m8282c) and Samsung Prevail Boost Mobile (m820)
Either .ops works
YOU MUST
Flash all three in odin:
boot.tar
phone.tar
pda.tar
must flash ALL three when cross flashing, once your flashed to the "other side", you may flash only "other side" .tars

To revert to stock just flash the three files for your model.

I have not tested cross flashing using less than the three above. It works, didn't feel like pressing my luck with this already volatile phone


Also, note:
dd'ing any bml partition will have stl header information in your image. stl is a bad block manager for the memory. bml is the container.

Hello, can you share please a copy of your stl5 or bml5 partition from a samsung precedent ? I corrupted mine and don

this is intersing post, I have prevail stuck in airplane mode with corrupt efs, I did a dd if=/stl5.dd of=/dev/block/stl5, I have all info to restore cdma.rfs but needing some help restoring files.
