Help Explain this to me

My friends DHD got damaged ,and got a replacement worh his insurance..
However ,for some reason ,the replacement was actually a Sensation? I look at it with envy as i wonder how it is possible ?
 
Is the DHD still manufactured? That is often a reason that you may not get the same phone under insurance... either that or, at the time that a replacement is required, the insurance may not have had a DHD in stock, so they offered a similar phone (which is something I'm sure I read on here) :)
 
it's because they don't manufacture them anymore so the insurance company gives you the nearest phone spec wise to it.

It happened with my bro. House got broken into and they stole his Samsung dumb phone. The insurance gave him a galaxy ace as a replacement! Not the best Android phone, I know, but it's a step up to the piece of crap he had before lol
