Extend Lockscreen Timeout?

Hi All,
Has anyone had an issue (or better yet, resolved it) with the lockscreen timeout? I've had to turn off the fingerprint scanner and go with the pin login, because the timeout is too quick. After pressing the home button to activate the screen, it seems you get about 3sec (yes, I timed it) in which to bypass the lockscreen and get into your phone. I was having a success rate of about 1 out of every 10 times getting in with the fingerprint scan. The screen would timeout before it had a chance to recognize. Or in some cases, it would recognize, the screen would turn off, and I could hit the home button again and it would take me right in. Very annoying process just trying to get into your phone.

Also, a ding on the pin login... for some reason they've crammed the keypad into the bottom 1/3 of the screen. So the numbers are tiny and it's easy to fat-finger your pin. Not sure why they're not using more real estate for the keypad. Just strange.

If you're going to use fingerprint unlock, I'd recommend also enabling 'smart stay' at settings > display and wallpaper. It uses the front facing cam to basically recognize you're looking at the screen and it will defeat turning off the screen. It'll help in the majority of situations and it's a great feature anyway for mobile browsing, reading documents, etc so you don't have to keep swiping the screen now and then when pausing on reading material.

Also I've found the fastest and perhaps most reliable way to fingerprint unlock is to press and hold the home button. That turns on the screen and unlocks in one fell swoop. There is a small timing thing one needs to get used to because if you continue to hold too long once you're into the homescreen, you may perform other activities you don't want to do. But it only takes a couple tries to master that.

A related question: When I turn my S6 on, it never asks for a pin or password or anything. Is there a security setting I need to get my password protection working?

settings > screen lock and security > screen lock type

Or are you saying you already set up pin unlock but it's not working? If so, maybe turn it off, and retry going through the pin entry procedure again.
