extended battery options

Has anyone tried any of hte extended battery options for hte razr and if so any you would recommend. These are basically devices that plug into the phone's usb - i would only use it during travel (like stranded at an air port).

I checked verizon wireless store (since extended batteries are 1/2 price until end of dec) but i could not find any of the moto brand ones for the razr and the ones they did have were all very weak (less than 2000mwh)

only option is an battery pack type of thing, that works to charge the phone battery and not provide phone power necessarily.

I use an ANKER Astro 5600mAh external battery pack. I works just fine with the Razr and provides both charging and operating power to the phone. It's a wee bit bulky but I wanted a battery pack that could re-charge more than just the phone.

This is also what I use and it works great. You can easily get 2-3 full charges from it and it holds charge for a long time, like weeks.

I use the Motorola P893. Its only 1800 mAH but its very compact and easily fits in the pocket. I get can 8-10 extra hours with this battery pack. On really heavy usage days I get from 4am-11pm with the stock battery and this portable battery. I believe I got it on sale at a Verizon corporate store for $14.95.

Hum right now it is $40; I think it should be 1/2 price if i go to a corporate store so I'll check.

Can the phone be used on it while it is 'charging' or does the phone have to be off ?

You can use it while charging--I saved my bacon a few times by plugging it in to the external battery pack to take a call when the internal batt was uncomfortably low.

You've never had any issues with this battery pack? I think I'm gonna get one for when I'm at work. What else do you charge with it besides your phone?

Haven't had any issues with the Anker thus far! I've used it to charge my Razr, my HP Touchpad, and the better half's DINC2. Haven't yet tried to see if one of the included adapters will fit my Xoom yet...

Awesome, I'm gonna order one off Amazon shortly. Thanks

I decided on the 2900mah PowerGen Mobile Juice Pack UltraSlim because it's dimensions are 107 x 57 x 10.5 mm so it is very thin and I can easily lay it on the back of my RAZR while it is charging in my pocket. I would have preferred greater power like the ANKER but 2900mah should be adequate in a pinch. It is on sale at Amazon now for $25.99, 63% off normal price with free Prime shipping.

I use a Sanyo with 5000mAh.

It has 2 USB ports and what I like most about it is that it can be recharged using the provided ac adaptor or via USB mini.

For those of you who have used both anker and Trent brands, which do you recommend and why?
I can't recommend Trent. I've had two, and while they can be ok, they tend to be very inaccurate about remaining charge and overall capacity. Only good thing is I got one on sale at Amazon for like $35.

My Sanyo has lost some of its original capacity too.

Now I am going to buy an Xpal XP18000 to charge both my Razr and GTab on the go.

Don't know anything specific to that model battery but the one thing that I notice of concern is the size and placement of the power button.

It looks like that could easily get turned on while sitting in a pocket or backpack. Probably not a major issue but something to consider...

Does not look trustworthy to me either.

I would not buy a battery from an unknown company. You never know what they put in there and how long it will last.

I briefly owned a New Trent that broke after two uses. They very graciously took it back and refunded me (company e-store through Amazon). I then bought the Anker Slim Talk--just perfect.
