Extended Battery?

TheGeek

Is there any extended batteries available that will fit the stock cover? For example; I was able to go up from 2500 to 2700 on my Galaxy Note; it was perfect. Gave me just enough juice to make it through the day.

Didn't know if there was anything for the S3. I looked at Anker (who did my Note battery, it was AMAZING) and all they had was 2200mAh whereas stock is 2100mAh. Thinking about getting it anyways because the one I had for my Note clearly showed it was better than the Samsung one.

I saw the 2200 mAh Anker battery on amazon. There were good reviews. I plan on getting one myself. My stock battery was poor at first, but has rapidly improved with a few charge cycles.

I ended up ordering one for $15 bucks from Laptopmate on Amazon. They are based in Pennsylvania so I should have it before the end of the week. Just from what I witnessed with my Galaxy Note; they are great. I went from 11 hours of use to over 24 hours of use, but it was also a HUGE jump in mAh. I think the stock battery in mine is junk just like it was in the Galaxy Note. We'll see what happens.

Keep us updated as to whether this battery actually works as advertised.

I have read pros and cons about extended batteries for the GS3, some citing that they really don't extend the battery life.

Of course, you may have found a winner.

+1 - I can never find a good case for a larger extended battery. If It works great I'm all over it!

I would like to use the stock battery cover as well but any battery that small really would not benefit much. I opted for a 4000mAh battery and new cover and only have to charge about every 4 or 5 days.

Just received my 4200mAh batter and cover yesterday. On my first charge as of right now. I'm on 7 hours and 42 minutes on battery, an hour and a half of that is screen time and I'm at 89%. And usually batteries get better after a few charges so I can definitely say I'm happy with the purchase. Should be able to get 3ish days at this rate which is fine to me. Adds a little business, but not enough to make it odd to hold or anything.

I'm loving this stock battery LOL.

This is every day for me; actually this day was just about good.

Uhm.

Why am I hearing that NFC is built into our battery?

Now I'm wondering if I just lost NFC with this other battery.

I am kinda eyeballing the Hyperion 4200mAh battery.

Amazon.com: Hyperion Samsung Galaxy SIII 4200mAh Extended Battery + White Back Cover (Compatible with Samsung Galaxy S III GT-i9300, AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung i747, Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung i535, T-mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 Samsung T999,

That's the one I purchased. I read in the other thread the other cases people were getting covered the buttons and whatnot, with this one it just clips on and leaves the silver border/buttons uncovered.

I'm at around 11 and half hours, 2 hours and 23 minutes of screen time, 50% brightness, juice defender running, and I'm at 81%. Really satisfied and I'd recommend it if added a small amount of width to the phone doesn't bother you.

How "thick" does it make the phone? Does it feel awkward in your britches?

I always thought before getting this that the phone felt very thin and fragile, but after this it adds a little weight and bulkiness which to me makes the phone feel more sturdy. Probably won't even notice the extra bulkiness when in your pockets, I'd have to guess maybe it added an 1/8 of an inch to the width.

I told you; stock batteries are CRAP!

This is a Anker 2200mAh battery; I've had nothing but great things with this company.

How's this for battery life!

Already notice a great improvement with the new battery. Still on first charge, but going longer than stock. Amazing that 200 more mah can get me this much further.

Anything over the stock battery is an improvement.

I've gotten 24 hours on my 2200mAh Anker.

Which is good; I need that. 12 hours; 50% battery; perfect.

So have we all given up hope on an official Samsung OEM extended battery ? I know I'm starting to.

If they offered one I'd not even bother. Given that the stock battery is crap.

My Anker is only 100mAh over the stock size; if I'm getting 24 hours out of it versus the 10 hours or so I was getting before. That should tell you something about Samsung battery quality.

The sad part; it was true on my Galaxy Note too! I bought a 200mAh more Anker for that phone and I went from 13 hours life to over 24 hours as well.

I think there is just a serious defect in quality when it comes to whoever is making Samsung's stock batteries.

Currently with the Hyperion 4200mAh and I'm on my last charge/discharge. Currently at 2 days 7 hours on battery. I'm at 45%. Screen time was at 4 hours(not a lot of heavy usage), brightness at 50%.

If you're thinking about a extended battery, go with them. And their customer service is excellent.

Hey Geek, I remember you from the Note forums! I gave my Note to my wife and stole her upgrade for the S3. haha.

Anyway, did you lose NFC with the Anker battery? That was the one question I had about it. I haven't actually used NFC yet but when Apple finally puts it in the new iPhone I'm expecting vendors to start paying attention to it.

Will do. 2 days 10 hours on the first go around. I was getting about 1 1/2 days prior. A nice bump in my eyes to say the least.

i picked up the battery that CellularFactory.com offers. don't know the brand. it might be it's own?

but it's 4500 mAh with NFC, and i've been able to get about 36 hours consistently over the 3 weeks i've had it now. this involves moderate usage throughout the day- Google Reader, Twitter, email, texting, very little phone calls, Words with Friends, and local music playback.

i also have Tasker running to automate a few things like turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth while i'm at work and once the battery hits 15% and under.
