Extended Life Battery Question

Hi,
I realize there are alot of extended battery threads out there, and I have read a bunch, and I'm still not sure about a couple things.
I presently have the original battery, and I'm using the snap on case and holster( from VZW), which I like. From reading the threads, it seems I won't be able to use this setup if I get an extended life battery. If this is so, what setups ( holsters etc ) are available, and are any better than the others? If you know of a good thread explaining this, please point me to it.
Also, does having an extended life door/cover affect the signal performance at all? I'm pretty sure the antenna(s) is/are in the cover.
Thanks for your time.

ps. I'm presently reading all I can in here regarding battery usage, and how to increase battery life:)

Check out these threads over in xda:

You will learn a lot about available options for extended batteries that fit stock.

If you really want an extended battery I have seen one case that fits it:

Thanks, that's a pretty informative thread, the one regarding things to do about reducing battery draw.
Can I ask you here about "Phone Idle"? My display shows using 56% of the battery, and the next biggest is Phone Idle at 16%...what is it? Thanks...
