Accessories Extending the charger/sync cable

Has anyone tried using a USB extension lead to lengthen the Samsung charger/sync cable and did the charging/sync still work OK?
 
Thanks for your reply. I'm hoping that by using an extension lead rather than replacing the original charger cable that I will have a longer lead without the problems of finding a replacement for the bespoke charger cable.
 
I have an extension lying around so I tried it and it appears to be working (charging icon displayed). Its likely a 2.0 cable. This same cable did not work with the Transformer. This is on a Tab 10.1.
 
I just bought a replacement cable that is 6.2 feet (2m) from Amazon. I'm sick and tired of the short one that came with. It should arrive this Saturday (Christmas Eve) and I will let you know if it works. This cable is supposed to work for the 7, 8, and 10 GTs. Mine is the GT 10.1 model # SCH-i905 (Verizon 4G and Wi-Fi 32GB version).
