External Adapter Display for Android?

Is there a way to display the full contents of the Bionic on an external display, say an HD TV?

Sort of like this product..

I'm not sure if this HTC adapter would work for non-HTC phones.
What looks interesting about it is the wireless part.
Is there another way without an adapter? Say an app and an HDMI cable?
Or would an adapter, like the one above, be needed to fully display the bionic (or any other android display) on a tv?

Yup, it's called webtop, and in ICS, you get webtop v3 - need nothing but a micro HDMI to regular HDMI cable to hook up directly to your TV.

Webtop is a part of your phone, you don't even have to download an app or anything.

By the end of September (hopefully a LOT LOT sooner) we will have the official ICS on our phones - but if you're already on a leak you can try it now.

As for the cable you need - here is a link to a pretty decent cable that works for me (I have 2 of them):
