External Battery Output Voltage?

Hey all ,

I got an HTC ONE with me , and i recently lost its charger !!! I got few questions if you could enlighten me :) :

1) Can i use any samsung/Other brand charger with same 5V/1A output ? Will there be any long term side effects like significant reduced battery cylces?
Because in India HTC sales n services are very very few especially in South , so its very hard to get a like-to-like replacement

2) I was planning to buy an external battery from Anker (Anker Astro 3E 10000mAh External Battery - Product Specification: Capacity 10000mAh; Output 5V / 3A (total); Input 5V / 1.5A ) , It has 2 plots which delivers a maximum 3A total ; 1.5A each or 2A & 1A

But it shows the output is clocked at 5V/3A(2 plots-3A output total) , would there be any problem if i use a 3A or 2A output on my hTC One?

Kind Regards

Sharook

Hi Sharook, welcome to the forum.

Most phones use a standard charger, although its best to avoid Samsung and Apple chargers as they deviate somewhat from standard. If you have the original USB cable for your phone there are many USB chargers available, just choose one that delivers at least 1A - they're all 5V :-)

Which brings me to the battery, which will work just fine. The current (!A, 3A, whatever) is the maximum that the battery can deliver; the actual amount is determined by the phone. The only important number is the voltage - 5V in this case - which is as it should be.

As an illustration: you plug ypur phone charger into a mains outlet that may be (say) 240v 13A when the charger needs (say) 0.1A - but the charger doesn't explode, does it? Of course it doesn't, the 13A is just the maximum current the mains outlet can provide, whatever you plug into it will determine the actual current.

The same thing applies when you plug the phone into the charger :-)

Looks good. I use a very similar battery from a different maker that's so similar I suspect they're the same. It really well when I'm travelling and charges my Nexus 7 tablet faster than the official 2A charger :-)
