external cd drive

[sntaylor]

Was just wandering if anyone knows of an external read write cd drive that will work with usb on the nexus 7?

I'm rooted and have an otg usb cable, just curious as our laptop is temperamental as it won't always turn on, part of the reason we got the nexus! And I'd like to get burning cds onto it

The biggest problem I see would be the need for drivers to exist in order for the device to work.

That's A Good Point That I Didn't Think Of.Lol

I'm Guessing It's Not Common Place Anyway, Unlike The USB Drive :-(

Ach WellFortunately, Since The Last Time I Did A Search, Someone Has Found A Work Around To Get The Computer Working, InvolveS Having To Take Battery Out And In While Turning It On When Plugged In, But It Works! Lol

Thanks All The Same

Another issue would be... Power supply.
Would the power from the n7 micro usb be enough to keep the cd spinning at the right rpm?

I would think an external CD drive would have its own power supply

I Did Notice That On The Xda Site For The Transformer Tf700 I Think, They Managed To Get One Working By Mounting It Like A Thumb Drive!

Not Sure It Would Work For Us Though, Will Just Have To Keep Using The Laptop :-(
